[ARCHIVED] Buckle up! NRPD will Participate in 'Click it or Ticket' Campaign

The New Rochelle Police Department will step up enforcement of seat belt laws next week as part of the national “Click It or Ticket” campaign May 23- June 5. This National Highway Traffic Safety Administration campaign, timed in advance of the Memorial Day weekend, aims to increase the use of seat belts, especially among young people. Statistics show that between 2000 and 2014, more than half of passenger vehicle occupants killed weren’t wearing seat belts- especially at night.

“Our focus is on safety, this upcoming holiday weekend and always,” noted Sergeant Myron Joseph, Traffic unit supervisor. “As the NHTSA campaign notes, you don’t get a second chance to be safe in an accident. Prevention is the key, and seat belts are effective.”
