July is Parks and Recreation Month!

A month of activities celebrate July as Parks and Recreation Month! Ongoing and special events fill the calendar:  

Swimming & Sunbathing Lincoln Park Pool opens for the season the weekend of July 4th. Pool pass required. Hudson Park Beach is open daily through Labor Day- admission is free, and parking is free with the Parks Passport. 

Live Music in the Parks 

  • Every Saturday evening at Ruby Dee Park at Library Green, enjoy fantastic live music at the Downtown Summer Sizzle concert series, beginning at 5PM. 
  • Every Wednesday night July 5 – August 23 the Hudson Park Bandshell comes alive with the Emil Paolucci Summer Sounds Concert Series presented by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts, with an expanded Friday concerts series through the end of August at New Ro Parc in the heart of the downtown.  All concerts feature a different food truck and the Wednesday concerts are preceded by free yoga at 6 PM sponsored by the Hudson Park Children’s Greenhouse.  
  • In celebration of our Sister City relationship, the New Rochelle Jazz Festival will kick off at Faneuil Park on Friday, July 14 with a free outdoor concert, and continue on Saturday afternoon with at 2PM at Ruby Dee Park on Library Green, featuring musicians from La Rochelle, France.  

Outdoor Recreation 

  • At Flowers “City” Park on Fifth Avenue, enjoy open play at “Summer Recess” on Monday nights July 3-August 7 on Fosina Field. And bi-weekly “Fun Fridays” will feature special engagements: A bounce house and waterslide on July 14, Bubble Bus Party on July 28 and Glow in the Dark party on August 11. 
  • Monthly senior events July-September include a pool party, beach party and exercise day  
  • Enjoy New Rochelle’s beautiful waters on a kayak or paddleboard through L.L. Bean Discovery program at Five Islands Park, or learn to sail at the Port Sailing School at the New Rochelle Marina  
  • Catch the NY Empire Ultimate Disc League at a home game at City Park 
  • Admire the community gardens at Ward Acres and Lincoln Park 
  • Take your dog to Paws Place at Ward Acres, the county’s largest dog park and winner of the 2022 Best of Westchester People’s Choice Award!  
  • Play a game of tennis or pickleball on one of the beautiful new courts at Pinebrook Tennis Center! Get a tennis card and learn more at www.newrochelleny.com/tennis

Special Events: 

  • Saturday, July 29: Lighted Boat Parade sails along the New Rochelle coastline 
  • Tuesday, August 1: New Rochelle Police Department National Night Out open house 
  • Sunday September 10: 10th Annual Street Fair at City Hall
