This is the City of New Rochelle with news about upcoming events and opportunities.
Next week are the final two of six meetings to discuss neighborhood flood mitigation, with a focus on the watersheds for Stephenson Brook on April 17 and the Sheldrake River on the 19th, both at 6:00pm in City Hall. Presentations from prior meetings are available online at newrochelleny.com/flooding.
Businesses and not-for-profits can learn about the second round of ARPA grants at an information session on the 17th. Potential co-op or condo buyers can learn about our Down Payment Assistance Program at a virtual meeting on the 19th. And for seniors and persons with disabilities, the City recently increased the income limits for certain property tax benefits. The filing deadline is May 1.
On Saturday, May 6, the Red Cross will install free smoke alarms for New Rochelle residents. Register now to receive your free alarm or to volunteer to help with installations.
Finally, please mark your calendar for several upcoming eco-friendly, fun family events:
On Saturday, April 22 celebrate Earth Day at the brand new Anderson Plaza downtown, between North Avenue and New Roc, with sustainability-themed vendors, music, and more.
That same day and also on Sunday, April 23 join the annual volunteer Parks Cleanup at 13 sites citywide.
Also on Sunday, April 23, visit the waterfront for our 10th annual Kite Day at Davenport Park.
And on Saturday, April 29, reduce, reuse, and recycle at our first Community Tag Sale at City Hall in the Hamilton Avenue lot. Vendor spots are still available.
That’s a lot to take in! So, for all the details, check the City website anytime at www.newrochelleny.com or look for us on social media.
