The New Rochelle Youth Bureau is launching a new program for elementary students in grades 3 through 5: STEP University. Through the sport of Stepping, participants will learn teamwork, creative expression, increased skills and valuable life lessons in an atmosphere of unity and diversification.
Up to 50 youth will be selected for the “Elite Steppers” team. Students will attend practice three times per week to build skills and prepare for competitions and showcases. New Rochelle’s High School Steppers will serve as mentors for the elementary school youth and assist them with the step dancing routines.
Tryouts will be held on March 23rd and 24th from 3:30 pm -6pm at New Rochelle High School House Two cafeteria. Both girls and boys are encouraged to sign up for the tryouts. This program is funded by the Westchester County Youth Bureau Invest in Kids fund.
