NRPD Partners with “Sleep in Heavenly Peace” for Bunk Bed Build Day

The New Rochelle Police Department is joining the Rye Chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace for a Bunk Bed Build Day event on Saturday, October 29. Beginning at 8AM at NRPD Headquarters, 475 North Avenue, and continuing throughout the afternoon, the Department’s Community Engagement Officers (PACT) and dozens of volunteers will build quality bunk beds for New Rochelle children and families in need.

Sleep In Heavenly Peace (SHP) is a national organization that builds and delivers beds to children in need of beds to sleep in. To date, SHP has built and delivered over 100,000 beds.

“For some in our community, having their own bed to sleep in at night is not a given,” said Captain Neil Reynolds. “Thanks to the efforts of Detective Terrence Fudge, we are grateful to partner with Matt Ambrogi and the Rye Chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace to help our local families provide for their loved ones.”

"Childhood bedlessness isn't a real word, but it is a real problem. With the support from our partner and national sponsor, Lowe's, as well as from local sponsor Gwendolyn Appleyard Trust, SHP is happy to build 20 beds for New Rochelle kids." said Matt Ambrogi, chapter co-founder of SHP NY-Rye.

The day begins with the unloading of trucks and setting up work stations 8-10 AM, with the build event taking place between 10 AM and 2 PM.

About Sleep in Heavenly Peace
At Sleep in Heavenly Peace, we fully believe that a bed is a basic need for the proper physical, emotional, and mental support that a child needs. When it was brought to our attention that the need for beds went far beyond our own neighborhoods, we stepped up and took initiative. We're a national organization answering the call to a national problem. If a child needs a bed, we want to make sure they get one. No kid sleeps on the floor in our town!®
