On September 6th, 2021, at about 11:13pm, New Rochelle Police Officers on patrol heard gun shots coming from the Heritage Homes housing complex.
Responding officers observed people fleeing the area but were not able to locate a shooter or victim at that time. One shell casing was located.
New Rochelle Detectives and officers at the Real Time Crime Center at Westchester County Police Headquarters developed leads over the next few days.
On September 11th at about 3:45pm, Detectives located the suspect in the shooting, one George Wesley Nelson, 38 years of age, from New Britain, Connecticut, who ended up admitting to his involvement to the incident. Mr. Nelson was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree and Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree.
