The City of New Rochelle in partnership with the Youth Bureau, New Rochelle City School District, Opportunity Youth Part and RFW Consultants hosted the LINC Youth Open House at New Rochelle City Hall on Friday July 23.
The LINC- a project that re-envisions the Memorial Highway corridor as a community-friendly greenway connecting the Lincoln Avenue neighborhood with New Rochelle’s downtown- will create the City’s largest new park in generations, with enormous environmental, safety and recreational benefits. New Rochelle youth who participated were excited and shared valuable feedback on design, amenities and features they would like to see in the future park.
Attendees were placed in breakout groups and participated in a competition to create and present 3D models of their design ideas, with innovative and creative ideas coming from each group. Members of the first and second place contestants received gift cards and everyone enjoyed pizza from a local shop and food sponsored by Sweet Potatoes.
The next event is the monthly DRI Community Forum virtual meeting on Monday, August 2 at 6:30pm. RSVP to join at https://www.newrochelledri.com/meetings-news/.
