Maes Gifts & Parties marked their first year of operation with a Ribbon Cutting hosted by the New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce on Monday, April 26th outside their store at 217 Union Avenue New Rochelle, NY. The NR Chamber was joined by Mayor Noam Bramson, District 1 City Councilmember Martha Lopez-Hanratty, NR Business Ambassador Lisa Davis, Mariana Jusufaj from the Rebound New Rochelle team and Samantha Vargas from the NR Communications team as owners María Avellán and her husband Miguel Guerrero celebrated successfully reaching their One Year Anniversary.
Maes Gifts & Parties opened in February 2020 just as the pandemic started in New Rochelle. Sadly, María Avellán and Miguel Guerrero were then forced to close the business in March and April as they themselves fell ill with COVID. However, they re-opened in May with renewed strength and all required safety precautions to continue serving their diverse clientele.
Maes Gifts and Parties provides personalized gifts for all occasions including arrangements of natural flowers, preserved flowers (3 to 5 years), flowers and fruits, balloons, stuffed animals, toys, perfumes, chocolates and much more. They have decoration services for all types of events such as: birthdays, baby showers, gender reveals, weddings, quinceañeras, and graduations. Maes Gifts and Parties is the only business of its kind in the West End of New Rochelle and they are passionate about their community, the City of New Rochelle and working with customers from various cultures.
María Avellán, originally from Ecuador, said “Our main objective is to provide a personalized service to our community through the delivery of a product that goes beyond a nice gift or a beautiful decoration. Our specialty at Maes G&P is to capture the feelings and small details that reflect the client’s needs and event. From the moment an order is placed we work with the client to capture those details in the gift or in the party and create something special and unique. We always deliver our customers the best products, at the best price and excellent quality.”
Council Member Martha Lopez-Hanratty commented, “As the City Council representative for this district, I can’t tell you how excited I am to be present at the opening of Maes Gifts & Parties in our dynamic West End Business District. Many businesses have suffered during this pandemic. Let’s continue to support our local merchants.”
“The New Rochelle Chamber is pleased to host this Ribbon Cutting for Maes Gifts & Parties who have overcome both business and health obstacles during this past year - the toughest year for businesses on record,” said Rob Hayes, NR Chamber President, and owner of the Beechmont Tavern. “Their family business celebrates all types of happy occasions in the lives of New Rochelle residents. Today, we’re glad to help them celebrate their success on their one-year anniversary.”
