On February 28, at about 2:00 pm., New Rochelle Police Officers responded to the vicinity of Echo Avenue and Main Street on a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, Officers observed a male/black flee the area on foot. He was subsequently apprehended after a foot pursuit, and identified as Nasiem K Lopez, aged 22 of White Plains, New York. He was found to be in possession of a loaded Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun, and was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon Third Degree and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana Second Degree. It does not appear that this individual was involved in the shooting. A second individual was detained and released.
Further investigation revealed that two suspects, both male/blacks in their mid 20’s, one wearing a gray jacket and an orange hooded sweatshirt, the other wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt both fired handguns and fled on foot southbound on Echo Avenue. It is unknown who, if anyone, was the intended target, and no victims were located.
