January is National Mentoring Month. This national campaign is aimed at raising awareness of the quality mentoring opportunities available and to connect more of our young people with caring adults.
Research has shown that when matched through a quality mentoring program, mentors can play a powerful role in providing young people with the tools they need to make responsible decisions, stay focused and engaged in school, reduce or avoid risky behavior and negative activities, and expand access to professional and social opportunities.
Attendees can also learn about how they can become a mentor. To start the Expo, Judge Kathie Davidson, Judge Wayne A. Humphrey and Judge Jared Rice will talk about their mentoring needs and specific programs.
