[ARCHIVED] There's still time to Make New Rochelle Count!

With the deadline for completing the Census quickly approaching, Census takers will be at various locations in the City in the coming weeks to assist with the response for New Rochelle, including City Hall on Thursday, August 13 from 8:30am- 12:30pm and at C-Town, located on Main St. from 1-4pm on Friday, August 14th.  In addition, Census takers will be hitting the streets of low-response neighborhoods to follow up with households that have yet to complete the questionnaire.

“An accurate count will help the City secure funding over the next ten years to assist with infrastructure, education, housing and other vital programs that improve our quality of life,” says Mayor Noam Bramson in a recent PSA.

Census employees will wear official identification with their photograph and a U.S. Department of Commerce watermark. When conducting home visits, Census takers will wear masks and follow local public health guidelines. According to the Census Bureau, all Census takers have completed COVID-19 training on social distancing and other health and safety protocols before beginning their work in neighborhoods.

Residents may request a return visit from a Census taker who does speak their language.

To avoid a visit from an enumerator, households can still respond online or by phone in one of 13 languages. The last day to respond and make New Rochelle count is Wednesday, September 30th.

Questions about the Census and New Rochelle’s Complete Count Committee may be directed to City Clerk Michelle Oliveros at (914) 654-2162 or Director of Planning and Sustainability Kevin Kain at (914) 654-2191.
