From Iona College:
The Iona College Graduate Program’s Occupational Therapy students are learning how to run groups and have been working to develop informational sessions on a variety of topics that we hope will be of interest to you. We had hoped to be able to spend time with you all at the senior center, but unfortunately the COVID-19 pandemic has turned our plans, and our world, upside down! Due to the need to be creative, our students have developed group sessions that they would like to offer you virtually using Zoom technology. Zoom is a free software application that can be accessed from both Macintosh/Apple and PC devices, as well as smart phones.
I am reaching out to you to see if you would like to sign up for any, or all, of these online sessions. Below is information regarding the group topics as well as student availability. If you are interested, please email me to let me know which topics you are interested in, and dates that you are available. We will then create a schedule that works for you. If you need help with setting up Zoom, please also let me know, and one of our students will be happy to help you get set up so that you can participate.
The group topics are:
- Health and Wellness: The Role of Nutrition
- Strategies for Home Safety
- Working Out While Staying In: Physical Activity for Older Adults During Quarantine
- Brain Games
- Tackling Changes with Vision
- Techniques for Reducing Clutter at Home
- Tips and Tricks for Staying Sharp
Group sessions will run for an hour and can be scheduled on the following days/times from June 8 - June 26
- Mondays (June 8, 15, and 22) from 2-5pm
- Wednesdays (June 10, 17, and 24) from 2-5pm
- Fridays (June 12, 19, and 26) from 9am-12pm and 2-5pm
If you would like to participate, please email tvelamoor@iona.edu and provide the following details:
