[ARCHIVED] National Public Works Week Features Truck Day at Barnard School 2019 Theme “It Starts Here”

“It Starts Here” is the 2019 theme of National Public Works Week, representing the year-round efforts of public works professionals nationally and locally in the City of New Rochelle.

“The men and women of the Department of Public Works provide essential services and are often unseen,” noted Commissioner Scott Pickup. "This year’s theme recognizes how foundational their contribution is, across all of our bureaus.”

The Department consists of six bureaus: Engineering, Traffic Services, Forestry, Sanitation, Sewers & Drains and Streets & Highways, each filling a critical function. The City will be highlighting each bureau on social media May 20-24.

And on Thursday, May 23, DPW will host a Truck Day event at Barnard School for kindergarten students, to explore the department’s ‘big trucks’ and learn about the important role Public Works plays in our community.
