Original release 4/26/19:

The New Rochelle Police Dept has been alerted that in the afternoon of Friday, April 19, 2019, some police activity took place in the parking lot of the Remington Boys and Girls Club. Citizens reported that several unmarked vehicles were parked in the lot and a group of men and women were congregated around those vehicles. It has been reported that the group appeared to have been members of some law enforcement agency, but no one was in uniform and most had no visible police insignias. It was further reported that some had holstered firearms. The New Rochelle Police Department was not involved in this activity and had no prior knowledge of this activity.

We have investigated this complaint and learned the following;

  • Numerous local, NY State, and Federal Law Enforcement agencies (Including ICE and the FBI) and the NYPD, were contacted by this Department. All denied having been involved in any operation in New Rochelle on the day in question.
  • Area video was reviewed, and revealed a group of vehicles (unmarked SUVs), was parked in the Remington Boys and Girls Club parking lot, and persons were milling about those vehicles, beginning at approximately 2:30 pm
  • At approximately 4:50 pm, this same group of persons and vehicles was observed leaving the lot, travelling north on Prince St.
  • At approximately 7:50 pm, what appears to be the same group of vehicles reenters the lot, leaving again at 8:15 pm

We encourage anyone who encounters similar incidents in the future to contact the New Rochelle Police Department at 914-654-2300.
