The New Rochelle Fire Department hosted their annual Promotion and Awards Ceremony today at the Council Chambers in City Hall. Newly appointed Fire Chief Andrew Sandor and Deputy Chief Ted Ferrara were joined by Mayor Noam Bramson, City Manager Chuck Strome, staff and families as they honored a number of firefighters with the Life Saving and Unit Citation Awards.
“Members of the New Rochelle fire Department have rightfully earned these promotions and awards,” said Fire Chief Andrew Sandor. “It is good and fitting that we gather today to recognize their accomplishments.”
Since the last awards ceremony in 2016, the NRFD has responded to over 16,000 calls. “The 18 events being recognized today represent the best of the best,” said Sandor.
Andrew Sandor was sworn in as the Fire Chief of the New Rochelle Fire Department along with newly promoted members and firefighters. Receiving promotions were Deputy Chief Ted Ferrara, Fire Captains Sean Denigris, Robert Ciotti and Fire Lieutenants Joseph Sinatra, Shawn Bostick, Frank Gagliardo, and Hugo Perez.
The department also welcomed five new firefighters, Clark R. Campbell, JR. Michael A. Cooper, Demetrius S. Lawrence, Anthony R. Gill, II, and four probationary firefighters, Ricardo Ramos, II, Louis J. Riso, Ted J. Cordaro and Robert Pegues.
The next NRFD exam will take place in April 2019. For more information on joining the New Rochelle Fire Department visit www.NewRochelleNY.com/NRFDtest.
