[ARCHIVED] Coyote Safety Tips

Good afternoon- this is a message from the New Rochelle Police Department regarding coyotes. There has been a report of a coyote sighting in the area of Hansen Lane. Please exercise the following cautions to avoid conflict: Be mindful of children and pets while outdoors. Do not feed coyotes. Remove all outside food sources including pet food and bird seed and make your garbage inaccessible. Don’t let your pets run free. If you see a seemingly healthy coyote, be aggressive in your behavior: make loud noises, wave your arms, throw sticks and stones. If the animal seems sick or aggressive, call the Police Department at 654-2000. In an emergency, dial 911.
