[ARCHIVED] NRPD makes arrests in Million Dollar Jewelry Store Burglary

During the early morning hours of April 5, 2018, members of the New Rochelle Police Department, the Westchester County District Attorney’s Investigators Office, the Bergen County, N.J. Prosecutor’s Office and the Port Chester Police Department executed search warrants at various locations in Brooklyn and Manhattan, related to the February 2, 2018, burglary of the New Rochelle Coin, Stamp and Jewelers located at 20 ½ Division St.

During the search several items of evidentiary value were located, and two males were taken into custody. Both of these individuals were subsequently charged with the commission of the burglary. These arrests are the culmination of an extensive, month’s long investigation into this and similar burglaries in other communities believed to have been committed by these individuals. The professionalism and cooperation among the above mentioned department’s led to the successful conclusion of this case.

Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. commended all the agencies for this outcome. “These arrests are the culmination of an important multijurisdictional effort involving our criminal investigators, the New Rochelle Police Department, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Port Chester Police Department. We want to thank all of our partners for this seamless collaboration to bring this two-state burglary spree to an end.”

Arrested and charged with Grand Larceny 1st Degree, a Class B Felony, and Burglary 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony was:

  • Kevin A. Lyde, age 55, of 2065 Rockaway Blvd. Apt 4F, Brooklyn, N.Y.

  • Kevin Young, age 55, of 1430 Bergen St. Apt 9H, Brooklyn, N.Y.

Both parties have been booked and are being held pending arraignment. The New Rochelle burglary investigation remains open as a third suspect has not yet been located. Questions regarding similar burglaries occurring in Bergen County N.J., and Port Chester should be directed to those jurisdictions.
