[ARCHIVED] Tax Payment Updates: E-CHECK PAYMENT OF PROPERTY TAXES IS NOW FREE!

Paying your tax bill through our website ensures that payment is received immediately with a printable receipt issued at time of payment. For details about this service and additional payment options please visit our website at www.newrochelleny.com/tax.

BEWARE OF LATE FEES FROM PERSONAL ONLINE BANKING PAYMENTS

Personal online banking, while growing in popularity, is not the preferred or recommended method for tax payment. Due to recent changes, property owners should consider the following before using personal online banking services for tax payments.
FUNDS ARE NOT TRANSFERRED ELECTRONICALLY. Physical paper checks are issued and mailed to the tax office. This may result in your payment arriving after the due date and late fees will be charged.
PAYMENTS ARE NOT MAILED IMMEDIATELY. On line banking services are now grouping checks according to payee addresses. Checks made payable to City of New Rochelle are grouped together and mailed out in one envelope.  This may result in your payment arriving after the due date and late fees will be charged.
NO POST MARK ON ENVELOPE. NYS Real Property Tax Law states that the US Postmark is considered the date received. On line banking services are now mailing checks in pre-sort envelopes which do not receive a US Postmark. Payments mailed on time but received after the due date without a US Postmark are considered late and will be charged late fees.

“Funds being drawn from your account does not mean that payment has been received by the Tax Office, noted Mark Zulli, Deputy Finance Commissioner. “If you choose to continue using your personal online banking service to pay your property taxes please allow enough time for payment to be received prior to due date.”

The Tax Office recommends the following electronic payment methods:
PAYMENT BY E CHECK THROUGH THE CITY’S WEBSITE: Paying your tax bill by e-check through our website ensures that payment is received immediately with a printable receipt issued at time of payment. This service is now free to our tax payers (the $1.50 service fee has been eliminated).
•DIRECT PAYMENT: The City offers automatic debit service from your checking or money market account for property tax payments. For details about this service please visit our website at www.newrochelleny.com/tax.
