The New Rochelle
Youth Bureau hosted their annual Youth Employment Recognition Ceremonyon Wednesday, August 9, 2017 in the
Council Chambers at City Hall. Seventy-three youth residents, betweenthe ages of 14-21, were recognized and presented with
certificates for their summer employment. The youth bureau provided summer jobsin three programs: Network Youth Leadership Program, TANF Summer Employment
Program, and Potential Candidates Summer Intern Program.
"This ceremony recognizes theaccomplishments of our youth employees before their families and our work-site partners and lets them know how
valued they are by us," said Youth Bureau’s Executive Director, KellyJohnson.
The young employees were placed at various worksites
throughout the City including New Rochelle CityCouncil and City Administration, City School District of New Rochelle, Boys
& Girls Club of New Rochelle, Allstate, Garito Manor at Union Square, GlenIsland Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation, Monroe College, New Rochelle
Chamber of Commerce, New Rochelle Public Library, NRBA-Summer BasketballLeague, RiskBlock insurance, Sutton Park Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.
The tremendous success of this year’s programs was made
possible through funding from HUD, City of New Rochelle and Westchester County.It was also supported in part by NYS Office of Children and Family Services,
Westchester Putnam Workforce Investment Board, New Rochelle Department ofDevelopment’s CDBG program, Youth Bureau Board of Commissioners and the Office
of the City Manager.
