Yard Waste Recycling
This recycling service was introduced by the City's Public Works Department to help keep neighborhood yards clean, help reduce the amount of yard waste entering the City's solid waste stream, and help protect the environment.
Yard Waste Collection
Yard waste is collected by the Bureau of Streets and Highways beginning Monday, April 3, 2023 and ending the last Friday in October. After October 27, yard waste will NOT be collected until the following year and should not be mixed in with fall leaves.
New Rochelle Yard Waste Rules and Regulations
The New Rochelle Yard Waste Ordinance allows for curbside placement of your yard waste, bags, or cans after 8:00 pm on the evenings prior to our regularly scheduled collection days. Yard waste must be placed at the curb by 7:00 am on the scheduled collection day and may consist of tied brush and branches no longer than four feet in length, having a diameter of no more than three inches.
Grass clippings, twigs, leaves, and other loose yard waste shall be placed in open containers or biodegradable bags weighing no more than 75 pounds.
The following items will not be collected and must be disposed of by a private carting company hired by the homeowner:
