General Information
The license is only valid in the State of New York. There is a 24-hour waiting period before you can use the license, and the license must be used within 60 days.
When applying for the license both the Bride/Groom/Spouse must be present.
Two forms of your ID is required:
- Current photo ID of a U.S. Driver's License, U.S. Non-driver's photo ID (issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles), or Passport.
- Certified Long Form Birth Certificate ( showing parents' information)
- If either or both parties were previously married, you must also have your certified judgment of divorce from the court system where the divorce was granted.
- Should the previous marriage have ended due to the death of your spouse, you must have the certified death certificate.
Note: All documents must be in English. If any document is not in English, you must have it translated by one of our authorized translators or the Consulate of your country. A certified copy is one that has a raised seal of the jurisdiction or granting authority.
The fee for a marriage license is $40 and is payable by cash, credit card or money order.
