How to Apply for a Permit

Click Login in the top right corner.  If you don’t already have a login, click “Register”.  If you used our old permit system, register with the same email address you used with the old system.  Your historical applications and permit will reflect in your dashboard.  You will get a confirmation email in order to complete your registration.

Once you are logged in, follow the steps below.

If your map doesn’t automatically go to New Rochelle, search for “City of New Rochelle” in the Municipality field.

Click on “Apply for” on the left side, then “Permit”


Before it will allow you to apply for a permit for the first time, you are required to supply your contact information. 

Choose Buildings department and the permit type you are applying for.  Then click Next.


Once you choose the permit type, you will see all the steps of the application process.  Go through each step completing the required information.


Search for the property you are applying for.  Less is more!   When searching, only enter the number and the first few letters of the street name and click the blue magnifying glass.  Find your property and click the green “Add” button to add it to your application.   Click Next to continue.


The contact step will automatically add the owner of the property and you as the applicant.  You can add any contacts you feel are relevant to this job (Ex: Architect, Contractor, Engineer, etc).  You can search for contacts first and if you don’t find them click “Create contact” to add new contacts. Click Next to continue.


Complete all the required fields for the building details.  Click Next to continue.


Add any and all insurance information required (Ex: Workers comp, Liability, Disability, Home Improvement, etc)  Click Next to continue.


Upload your insurance certificates on this step as well as a PDF of plans if applicable.  You can drag and drop your files into this screen or click in the box to open your computers file explorer to search for your files.  Click Next to continue.


The next step will allow you to print your application and instructions. Click Next to continue.


The final screen will show you the data for the application. Click the down arrow for each section to make sure everything is right before submitting.  If you need to change anything, you can click the “Back” button or the “Edit” buttons at the top to edit your application.  Click Submit when you’re ready to submit.


Once submitted, you will see a summary of your application and the ability to add contacts or additional documents to your application.


If you need to apply for an amendment, you can click “Create a request” choose Buildings, then Amendment.  Enter a detailed description of the details of your amendment and click “Create”.


To apply for a Certificate of Occupancy, you must complete the form that came with your permit when it was issued. Go to your dashboard to find your permit and click on “Document” to retrieve it.


You can access your application at any time by click on “Dashboard” in the top left corner.
