2007 Leaf Collection Program

UPDATE 10/12/07:

The collection of fall leaves will begin on October 22 2007 in New Rochelle and run until on or about December 28, 2007

We ask that home/property owners advise Landscapers and Gardeners of all pertinent information to help facilitate leaf removal. For collection purposes, bagging of leaves is the preferred method for disposal as the collection process is much more expeditious.

Leaves must be raked near the curb line of the property and stacked in long, narrow windrows, or bagged using biodegradable 30-40 gallon paper bags. Leaves placed in plastic bags WILL NOT be collected.

Leaves placed in biodegradable bags only or open containers weighing no more than 75 pounds will be collected citywide on the following six Saturdays:

November 10th, 17th and 24th.
December 1st, 8th, and 15th.

When leaves are placed near the curb, it is important that they do not block storm water catch basins, which when restricted can cause flooding, or block fire hydrants which can impede fire suppression efforts. Do not place leaves near cable boxes, oils fills, or landscaping stones or arrangements.

Do not park vehicles on or near leaf piles as this can cause fires and will prevent piles from being removed.

Do not place branches, logs or debris in leaf piles. Piles with mixed materials will not be picked up.

A leaf removal crew will be assigned to each section and you may view the crews’ progress through the section as the streets appearing in red have been completed. These lists will be updated frequently.

Our progress through these areas will vary as a result of weather conditions and the rate at which the leaves fall.

Please note that after you receive a third pass for curbside removal, any remaining leaves must be placed in brown paper bags or spare trash cans for removal by City personnel.
