The Department of Recreation offers a variety of recreation programs for New Rochelle Residents.

Picnic Permits
*All reservations are subject to a $50 non-refundable processing fee.

New Rochelle Parks and Recreation charges a fee to rent designated areas in Five Islands Park and D’Onofrio Park and City (Flowers) Park Pavilion for family and group picnics.

D’Onofrio Park has one picnic pavilion that can accommodate large groups of 50-200 people. Weekend rentals are for full days only at $300.00. During weekdays (Mon-Fri), the picnic pavilion can be rented for either a full or part day (up to four hours). The full day weekday rate is $300.00, and the part day weekday rate is $200.00.

Five Islands Park has three picnic pavilions. The indoor pavilion can accommodate groups of 80 or less. The two outdoor pavilions (Main Pavilion and Harrison Island Pavilion) can accommodate groups of 50-75 people. Weekend rentals are for full days only. The full day rental rate for the Indoor Pavilion is $400.00 and the rate for each outdoor pavilion is $300.00. During the weekdays (Mon-Fri), the Indoor Pavilion can be rented for either a full day ($400) or part day (up to four hours) at $200.00. The outdoor pavilions can be rented for either a full day ($300.00) or part day ($200.00).

City (Flowers) Park Pavilion has one picnic pavilion. The pavilion can accommodate 50 or less people. Weekend rentals are for full days only and the fee is $100.00. During the weekdays (Mon-Fri) the pavilion rate is $100 for a full day or part day (up to four hours) at $50.00.

SOFTBALL

The Resident Adult Softball League Program runs from late April through August each year. Team registration starts in March.

There is also a Resident Adult Fall Softball League Program that runs from September 10th through October 12th.

TENNIS LESSONS

Junior Development Tennis lessons are held after school at the Pinebrook Tennis Center. Spring lessons are held in May and June, and Fall lessons are held in September and October.

Summer Youth Weekly Tennis Camp and the Match Play program are held at the Albert Leonard Middle School Tennis Courts from mid-June through mid-August.

Adult Group and Individual Tennis lessons are held at the Pinebrook Tennis Center starting in May through October.

Junior and Adult Platform Lessons are held at the Pinebrook Tennis Center November through February.

THERAPEUTIC RECREATION

The Therapeutic Recreation Program offers a variety of programs for children and adults with varying developmental disabilities.

Our Fall programming offers Arts-in-Education, Afterschool, Generation, Canteen and Scouts.

In the summertime, we offer Camp Joy, which is a six-week day camp. We also offer a two-week summer vacation break camp program, and school vacation break programs during the mid-winter, spring, Christmas and Hanukkah school vacation periods.

All programs are supplemented by trips and special events.

YOUTH ACTIVITIES

The Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of programs and special events for youths ages 3 –13.

In cooperation with the Business Improvement District, the Family Fall Festival includes Downtown Window Painting, Mask Making, Children’s Costume Parade and Pumpkin Painting Party spread over the last 2 weekends in October at Library Green Park.

Applications for the Winter Ice Skating program are distributed through the City School District’s Elementary Schools for grades 3-5.

The Girl’s and Boy’s Winter Basketball Program is conducted in collaboration with local community youth organizations, Boys and Girls Clubs, and City Schools for children in grades 3-5.

Registration for Summer Youth programs begins in mid-February. These programs include a Preschool Camp for ages 3-5, Day Camp for elementary school youth, and Drop-In Programs for Middle School Youth.
