Ward Acres Master Plan
The City of New Rochelle has retained the qualified services of Vollmer Associates, LLP, with specific expertise in park planning, design and historic preservation/restoration projects to conduct a master plan study of Ward Acres Park . This study will provide planning and management guidelines for the entire 62 acre Ward Acres Park facility and in doing so, prepare both a complete site analysis/facility inventory and recommend a use plan for an ongoing public recreation effort at Ward Acres. In addition, the City, with several community partners including the Chamber of Commerce and School District of New Rochelle desires to involve the community within the planning process, including neighborhood involvement and current recreation users that result in the Ward Acres master plan.
Ward Acres Park is envisioned as a unique planning, preservation, restoration and program opportunity for a mix of recreational uses including open space, seasonal special events, and educational components including historic and environmental engagements. We hope to create a revitalized destination within our northern city quarter for outdoor recreation enthusiasts by making the connection to existing and revitalized New Rochelle Parks and trail systems
