The Law Department is responsible for handling all legal affairs of the City of New Rochelle including civil litigation on behalf of the City and the prosecution of traffic and City Code violations. 

The Law Department represents the elected and administrative officials as well as City employees. The Law Department attorneys draft and review legislation, governmental policies and procedures, and various contracts. 

The Law Department is also responsible to perform real estate transactions and to draft legal opinions on matters of legal concern to the elected officials, executive and administrative officers.
