Collection Dates & Guidelines
Fall leaf collection begins on October 15, 2013 and is usually completed just before December 27 (weather permitting). Leaves must be placed in 30-40 gallon biodegradable paper bags or loose in containers, none of which weigh more than 75 pounds, or raked to the curb and placed on long wind rows.
The Department provides citywide pick up of all leaves that are bagged, on the six Saturdays listed below. Any bagged leaves that are out at the curb on those days by 7:00 am. Saturday morning will be collected. No appointment is necessary.
Leaves should not be placed in the street. A separate collection schedule is published annually. Daily updates as the where the crews are working are available from the Bureau of Streets and Highways at (914) 235-4029.

Leaf Collection Do's and Don'ts
- November 9, 16, and 23
- December 7, 14, and 21
-Rake leaves into neat piles or wind-rows near the curb line of your property to facilitate pick up
-Place leaves in brown recycling bags for Saturday pickups (this is the preferred method)
-Put leaves in plastic bags
-Obstruct traffic lanes, catch basins or fire hydrants with leaf piles
-Park cars on top of or near leaf piles
-Mix branches in with leaves, as this damages equipment.
Leaf blowers may be used
from October 1 through May 31
, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

A leaf collection crew will be assigned to each section and you may view the crews' progress through the section as the streets appearing in red have been completed.
These lists will be updated frequently. Progress through these areas will vary as a result of weather conditions and the rate at which leaves fall. Please note: once each section receives a thrid pass for curbside removal, any remaining leaves must be placed in brown paper bags or spare trash cans for removal by City Personnel.
