Michael W. Freimuth was appointed Development Commissioner for New Rochelle beginning March 1, 2010. Mr. Freimuth brings to the City a wealth of experience, having served for two decades in management of municipal development operations. Most recently, he was director of both the Office of Economic Development and Office of Intergovernmental Affairs for the City of Stamford, CT. During his distinguished tenure he oversaw a variety of projects involving urban renewal, land acquisition and redevelopment initiatives.

Prior to that, Mr. Freimuth was Director of the Office of Planning and Economic Development for the City of Bridgeport, CT, where he directed a staff of forty comprising six departments. Mr. Freimuth also has an extensive background in real estate development, having managed a real estate development subsidiary of a community savings bank, and has held positions at the federal level both with the executive and congressional branches.

Mr. Freimuth received his Bachelors of Arts from the University of Connecticut and his Masters of Public Administration from George Washington University. He has served as Director of the Stamford Chamber of Commerce and has been recognized for his achievements by the Connecticut Secretary of State and the Connecticut General Assembly.
