Dorothy Allen, a 35 year resident of New Rochelle, was appointed City Clerk in May 1998.

Over the past 20 years, Ms. Allen has been active as a non-profit agency organizer, including having held positions at INFOLINK for National Victims Center (Director) and Legal Awareness of Westchester. Over the past two years, Ms. Allen has been a coordinator for Project Assist with Communities for a Tobacco-Free New York.

She is active in community organizations including: United Way of New Rochelle, New Rochelle Cares, League of Women Voters, New Rochelle Peace Action and the Charter League. She is also a member of the grievance committee for the Ninth Judicial District and is President of the Roosevelt Terrace Condominium.

Ms. Allen is a Massachusetts native and is a graduate of Emerson College.
