Duties & Responsibilities
The Bureau of Assessments duties include:
  • Attending and assisting the Board with information at Board of Assessment Review hearings
  • Administering all property tax exemptions
  • Assisting the Board of Assessment Review in scheduling hearings
  • Drawing up and maintaining the building card file with sketches, dimensions, descriptions, area, and alterations of all buildings
  • Establishing and maintaining the assessment maps
  • Evaluating all real estate in the City, improved and unimproved
  • Preparing defense for all Small Claims hearings
  • Recording and maintaining all transfers of property ownership
